God’s perfect plan for some Christian women struggling with singleness is to wait passively and to keep praying for a future husband. His perfect plan for other women who are just as single is to go on an adventure to find true love.
It can depend on your season in life. Maybe God asked you to be passive, waiting, and not dating when you were in your teens and your early twenties. But now that you’re in you’re older, God may be telling you that it’s the right time to be proactive to find a godly husband.
God may also be leading some eighteen-year-old Christian woman to be proactively seeking marriage, as well as asking some godly forty-year-old woman to wait passively because He’s about to bring the right Christian husband to her.
When I was in my twenties, Rebekah (in Genesis 24:1-66) was my role model for how to find love. When I was in my thirties, Ruth (in Ruth 3 and 4) became my role model for how to find love. (This is how I found my future husband in 4 months.)
God’s plan is different for a twenty-eight-year-old woman stuck in singleness who has never dated, has no relationship baggage, and is ready for marriage, versus a forty-two-year-old woman—whose unfaithful husband divorced her after their third child—who needs a lot of healing before she can be ready to trust men again.
I invite you to watch this Youtube video of a young Christian woman give some wise, encouraging advice on how you can find out whether God wants you to wait passively for love to happen, or to proactively pursue dating and marriage in obedience to His leading: Waiting on God, or Taking the Initiative?
I have a gift for godly women who specifically want to get married in the next 2-3 years, and want to know the steps to find their godly future husbands. It’s the first 3 chapters of my book “From Stuck in Singleness to Marrying Mr. Right”:
